I have a beautiful outdoor “mother and child” session to share with you today. My dear friend Maria and her family recently moved to the island of Mallorca and on a trip back to Dallas she asked me to photograph this special time between her and Indy. She wanted a soft, organic setting and I immediately thought of this location. What better way to symbolize emerging childhood than a wooden swing hanging from a huge oak tree! Add to that a crisp fall day, plenty of sunshine and a happy baby. I couldn’t have asked for more. : ) Thank you, Indy and Maria, for a beautiful afternoon. Dallas misses you! Thank you Grey Likes Baby for featuring this session!
I am sad to say this was my last session at this wonderful location. As I type this, construction crews are cutting down trees and leveling the ground turning it into a 40 lot neighborhood. Boo! Luckily, this huge oak tree is being saved but the swing is gone and it doesn’t look anything like it once did. Not to be all “dramatic” but when I first saw the carnage, a wave of nausea hit me and I had to fight back tears. It just makes me so sad. :'( Since it is right down the street from my house I spent many afternoons here with my kids enjoying the acres and acres of beautiful rolling land, the creek, and lots of 100+ year old oak trees. It became one of my favorite locations to shoot at. *sigh* All in the name of progress, I guess. RIP you beautiful gem. Here are a few of my favorite shoots here: one two three four
