film fridays: a personal project where I put down my digital camera and share images created on film

One of the things I love about summer is all the fresh, local fruit and vegs the US has to offer. The Dallas Farmer’s Market does not disappoint either.  If you are local to DFW you should really check that place out. INSANE produce. These strawberries were so big they could have been a meal! Our family is really trying to turn over a new leaf as far as incorporating more fruits and vegetables into our diet. I recently watched a movie called Forks over Knives which was a real eye-opener. While we are not diving into a pure vegan diet (since meat is delicious) we are making significant changes to the amount of fresh vegetables vs the amount of meat we eat. I highly recommend this movie. It will change how you view the American diet, for the better!

In addition to these changes we are also trying to buy more local “in season” fruit. Not only does this support US farmers but it also reduces your carbon footprint.  Like it or not, shipping produce from overseas 2,000 miles away, so Americans can buy strawberries all year round, does have an environmental impact. Not to mention potential health risks as a lot of these countries do not maintain their crops to the same standards as we do in the US.

Anyway…just my thoughts on the matter. On with the pictures!
