I have LOADS of film to share from our summer trip to Louisiana but I thought I would start with this amazing butterfly we chased around my mom’s backyard. From searching online this looks like an  Eastern Black Swallowtail I have no doubt there are larger butterflies in this world but this was the biggest I have ever seen! You should have seen it flapping through the air.

To give you some perspective, here is a pulled back shot of it sitting on an elephant ear leaf. This doesn’t do it justice either, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. It was BIG.  American swallowtail or parsnip swallowtail photographed in Louisiana

One day, maybe in my retirement years, I’d like to try my hand at nature photography. And to up the ante, do it all on film. yeeeeah. I’ve already talked to Sean about devising a camo setup so I can stalk the hummingbirds in our yard. Something to look forward to!

Here are my butterfly hunting partners in crime. : )Blue and black butterfly, believed to be the eastern black swallowtail.
