Wow! What an incredible wedding day in Durango, CO. Actually it was more like a wedding weekend! So honored I was there to capture so much love.

This post can not officially start without first mentioning how I met Kim. We were best friends in the 4th grade and remained pen-pals for many years after her family moved to Australia. And I kept every single letter, too! Is this overly sentimental or just creepy? I can’t decide. lol  Then, like so many people that come into your life, we lost touch with each other.  Over the years, I would think about her and wonder where she ended up. I think I tried searching for her online once but didn’t come up with anything. Then one day, out of the blue, I got a message on Facebook, “Is this Jenny who used to live in Lafayette,LA and went to Plantation Elementary?”

It was my sweet friend from 4th grade! Facebook is amazing, isn’t it? I was so happy to re-connect with my old friend and then when she asked me to photograph her wedding at the Silver Pick Lodge I was beyond thrilled!! I happily accepted and anxiously waited for September to come. And Colorado in September did not disappoint. What a magical place!

I snuck some film in on this trip too!

The happy couple on Rehearsal Day! Sean and I were blown away by the ceremony site. I short walk up a hill took you to a beautiful meadow with mountains behind and in front of you.

This was the most amazing ‘First Look’ I have ever witnessed. Truly. I almost felt like I should look away because it was such an emotionally private moment for them. I think Kim even described it having a soulgasm. ha!

That’s me with Kim bottom right! What an honor it was to be there. Many thanks to Kim and the Wilcox family for making me and Sean feel so welcome. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I actually got to do this. How mind blowing is it to reconnect with your childhood friend that you haven’t seen in over 20 years AND get to photograph one of the happiest days of her life? I’m still trying to process it all. This is just one of the many reasons why I feel so blessed to have photography in my life. Congrats Kim and Gregg! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be part of your special day.
