Fort Worth Wedding Photography Featured on Style Me Pretty

Wow, where do I start with this shoot. First, hats off to all the planners and stylists out there who make these wedding inspiration shoots look easy. I’ve styled my fair share of shoots but never wedding themed. Wedding inspiration shoots are EVERYWHERE and really, they look like no big deal, but this was by far the hardest shoot I’ve planned. Not to mention expensive! If I were completely transparent about everything that went behind planning this shoot you would be amazed. So let’s just say, it’s not as easy as everyone makes it look!

I was fortunate to work with the AWESOME gals at We + You who made this shoot so much better with their amazing florals, signature drinks and super styling skills. Can’t wait to work with ya’ll again!! Our newlyweds, Cory and Marissa, were the perfect models and I can’t thank them enough for their enthusiasm on such an early morning shoot. Many thanks to Joe T Garcias for letting us use your incredible venue and to Aimee from Made In The Fold for the beautiful hand calligraphy and watercolor invitation suite! And last but not least to my 10 yr old for letting me borrow your prized volcanic glass antler handle obsidian knife. Thanks, dude. Also, thank you Style Me Pretty for featuring this shoot on your beautiful blog. Go check it out!!

A little background on the inspiration for this shoot:

Here in Texas, we see a lot of bright and colorful Mexican “fiesta” wedding details, which can be fun and lively but I wanted to dig deeper into traditional Spanish decor. I was inspired by Spanish mission which is earthy and minimalist. It has a way of looking both modern and rustic at the same time.

With this in mind I kept the color pallet neutral and the details simple and modern with just a hint of rustic. I chose the historic Joe T Garcia as our lush Spanish backdrop. Marissa wore an earth-tone Alberta Feretti gown made of silk chiffon fabric with pleating all over. Cory wore a charcoal suit with a silver bow tie, topped with a classic Stetson hat adding just the right amount of ‘cowboy’ that is such a big part of Spanish culture here. The end result is a set of images so rich in tone and texture that it makes you want to step inside the photo and join this couple’s celebration. Margarita please!!
