A few months ago I photographed this retro inspired bridal session with the help of several talented vendors. Hair & Makeup Emily DelToro / Bouquet We + You Studios / Vintage Rentals Rent My Dust / Cake Carrie Riefler
The styling of this session was inspired by listening to my own Grandparents describe their modest wedding day in 1947 – A family member made my grandmother’s wedding dress and veil; the cake was homemade; and their reception was held under a large oak tree in Louisiana. I was inspired by these simple and sweet details that still remain very special to them. If my Grandmother had taken bridal portraits, this is what I envision they might have looked like. My model’s hair and makeup was soft and wavy, reminiscent of photos I have seen of my grandmother. I requested that the cake and bouquet look simple and homemade, like something you might see at a country wedding. All together I think we successfully achieved a look I was hoping for – an understated retro look, hearkening back to a simpler time. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed creating them!
Thank you to The Lovely Find for featuring this session!
